I primarily use email to send our monthly calendar and other important information; please regularly check the email address you have listed.

SUPPLIES:

Each day, your child needs to bring a backpack labeled with his/her name (can be labeled inside). On the first day of school, please bring an oversized old short-sleeved T-shirt, with your child’s name written on the back of the shirt under the neck with magic marker. This will be their paint shirt and will stay at the school all year. It needs to be big enough to cover their lap when they sit down, to protect their pants. Also, on the first day of school, please send a pair of pants and underwear that will stay at the school in case of any kind of accident during the year. You will get them back at the end of the year if there is no need to use them.

PRESCHOOL SCHEDULE AND TUITION:

Mon/Wed and/or Tues/Thurs 9:00-11:15 a.m; $125/ month for 2 days a week, $250/month for four days a week. Tuition is due the first day of preschool each month. You may venmo me at summer-frost-4 or pay by cash. Note: An early bird discount of $10 may be subtracted from your payment made before the first calendar day of each month. Tuition is averaged across all of the days of the school year, so the cost is the same every month. If tuition is not paid after the first day of preschool of the month, a $10 late fee will incur on that day and each preschool day held thereafter and add on to your total. If 3 preschool days of missed payment pass, your child will no longer be able to attend preschool.

NEW LOCATION INFO:

I will be moving into a new home a couple of blocks away sometime this Summer/Fall, as soon as it is available. Not only does it have a larger classroom and more parking, it also has the things we love about our current location: a big backyard, nature-centered learning, and farm days. Preschool will be held there starting in August at the earliest, or if it is delayed, preschool will be held at the current location until it is available.

PICK UP AND DROP OFF:

I will promptly be prepared and open our doors at 8:55 a.m., and School ends at 11:15 a.m. Children will be dismissed through the front door. Please inform me of anyone who will be picking up your child that I may not recognize. I will only release your child to those on your approved pick up list or people you have specifically communicated to me about in advance. I may ask any individual for proof of identity. I take your child’s safety extremely seriously, and for this reason will not make exceptions. If you would like to add to your pick up list, please do so at least one day in advance so that I have a record of it on my end.

CURRICULUM:

Our nature-centered preschool curriculum works in the following areas for your child’s learning objectives and needs: pre-reading, pre-math, science, emotional and social growth, and physical health. To accomplish this, I cover a letter and number each week as well as a shape, pattern, color, and song of the month that coordinate with the crafts and stories we read. In conjunction with that, I use hands-on learning activities, arts and crafts, music, the outdoors, and nursery rhymes. I email out a monthly calendar with our learning themes and objectives for parents to practice with their children if they desire.

‘NO SCHOOL’ DAYS:

I follow the same holiday days off as the Washington County School District. This will be noted on our preschool calendar which will be sent home with your child. In the unlikely event that WCSD cancels school due to inclement weather, preschool will be canceled, too. If you’re not sure, call/text me. There are a few more Monday holidays off, so I will hold a couple of Friday makeup days for the M/W group to make sure they receive the same value as Tues/Thurs classes.

SNACK ASSIGNMENTS

Snack assignments are listed on the calendar. Try to keep it healthy. Our preschool is a nut free zone, so please avoid snacks that contain nuts to avoid allergic reactions. If for any reason you can’t bring the snack or need to trade days, please text me. Plan enough for 8 children. Thank you!

FARM DAYS:

Each month we schedule a few days to walk down the street to visit a local farm as part of our nature-centered curriculum. The kids LOVE interacting with the animals! You’ll see a waiver release form at the end of this packet specifically for the farm.

PARKING:

Feel free to park anywhere in the driveway during pick-up and drop-off. Ideally, we’d like to keep as many cars off the road as possible.

INJURIES:

Of course we will do all in our power to avoid accidents, but there may be bumps and other owies.  I will inform you of any concerning injuries that happen to your child. If there is a medical emergency, I will make every effort to contact you, and I will take medical action immediately, including calling an ambulance, if needed.

ILLNESS:

If your child has a cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, or just feels plain awful; please keep them home. If your child presents with symptoms after they get to preschool, I will call you to pick them up. Please text me if your child won’t be coming to preschool. In the rare case of my illness, I may cancel up to three days throughout the school year to recover. Beyond that I will provide make-up days, or, if that is not possible, provide tuition reimbursement.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS/ALLERGIES:

You are responsible to administer all medications to your child. In case of emergency, emergency personnel may administer medications. Our preschool is a nut free zone.

BIRTHDAYS

We love to celebrate birthdays! If your child would like, they may bring a special treat to share to celebrate their special day. I try to work snack assignments around birthdays. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in May. We will celebrate your child all day long as our V.I.P.!

CLASS PARTIES

We have class parties to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and our Last Day Of School. I will provide the children with a small special treat; I try not to make it a sugar-fest. We celebrate more with special games and occasion-themed activities than with candy.

Hopefully, I’ve covered everything, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask! 🙂
